Say you’ll come and see me at one of these events. Simply Written Here, a festival of local authors to be held in Catonsville, is coming up next on Nov. 15 but several events have already been scheduled for 2026.

- Simply Written Here: The Holiday Edition, a book festival featuring local authors will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This Holiday Edition comes on the heels of our September festival which was a big success for readers and authors alike. This event will be held in the same location, Simply Made Here, an artisans shop that celebrates all things Maryland, located at 2302 Frederick Road, Catonsville, on the way to Olde Ellicott City. Reps from First Light coffee had red tape troubles and won’t be on hand. (Maybe next time.) We are partnering with Backwater Books. Simply Made Here has lots of parking space. Stay tuned. Find all the details here.
- Simply Written Here: The Valentine’s Day Edition, will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as always at Simply Made Here in Catonsville. Most of the authors will be romance writers but we’re sprinkling in a few writers from other genres just to add more spice. Details to come.
- Books and Beer: I didn’t get a table at Union Craft’s Books and Brews later this month so that’s canceled but I’ve got space at a book event with M.K. Hale and other local writers at the Crooked Crab brew pub, Sunday, Feb. 15, 12-4:30 p.m. The Odenton brew pub is located at Crooked Crab Brewing Company, 8251 Telegraph Rd, Unit D, Odenton, MD 21113.
- Tavern Talk & Tea, Rising Sun Inn, Saturday, April 25, 2026. 1 p.m. Come for tea, as well as some of the sweets mentioned in my book Love Letters & Gingerbread, a companion book to my Civil War novel, Divided Loyalties. Really a novella, Love Letters relates the love stories of two Annapolis sisters (who later are nurses at Antietam). The Rising Sun Inn is located at 1090 Generals Highway in Crownsville (near Annapolis). After tea, I’ll introduce my book with its pretty new cover, answer questions and enjoy the colonial atmosphere of this convivial historic inn. Hope you’ll join me.
I pushed open the Sundial bookstore door and slipped inside.
from FEARLESS SUMMER
The store’s owner glanced over the reading glasses perched on
her nose. “Morning, Henry. What brings you here?”
I scanned the shop. I couldn’t quite say I was searching for a safe
place to hide and calm my raging nerves. “Hi, Susan. I need a book for Mom.
She likes those beach romance books. Got anything new?”
Taking off her glasses, she nodded and came around the counter.
“I’ve got just the thing. It’s set right here, a second-chance romance.”
